  • Installing a mobile diesel parking heater in the garden shed

A metal heating box with hoses attached sits open next to a building, revealing machinery and a plastic container inside; the box appears to be an outdoor equipment unit or possibly a parking heater. www.commaik.de

In my search for an efficient and self-sufficient heating solution for my garden shed, I decided to build a mobile heating box with a diesel parking heater. My aim was to create a compact, weatherproof and flexible heating box that not only reliably heats my animal house, but can also be used in the camper, motorhome or for other projects. With the 8kW diesel parking heater, I was able to implement a powerful yet economical solution that provides constant heat even at temperatures of -10°C. In this article, I describe how I planned, built and installed the heating box and share my practical experience from the first tests

  • Robot lawn mower – Find and repair a broken control cable easily

A patch of grass with a hole dug in the soil, exposing underground cables for a robot lawn mower. Nearby are an orange cable locator tool, wires, a white hose, and two blue wire connectors. www.commaik.de

If the robotic lawnmower no longer wants to drive, it is often due to a defective or broken control cable. But how do you find the broken spot on the boundary wire? And how can you repair the damage quickly and easily yourself? I have made a video on precisely these questions and will now provide many more important tips and tricks with this entry.

  • Build your own garden kitchen – brick and glue walls with aerated concrete

Partially built garden kitchen with light-colored gas concrete blocks, open walls and unfinished columns on a concrete foundation. Trees and a wire fence can be seen in the background. www.commaik.de

After the base of the new garden kitchen was set and aligned with the gas concrete blocks, I could now start building the walls with the Ytong blocks. A special feature here should become the bar counter of the pool bar, in addition to the window on the south side.

We were able to extensively test our inflatable hot tub, the MSpa Alpine, for a good year. Now it’s time to give feedback on usage, maintenance, pros and cons. Is a whirlpool bath worth it? What are the running costs? What problems arise when installing the pool in the basement? I will explore all these questions in the following article. I have written a first article on the construction of the whirlpool here.

The foundation of the garden kitchen was ready and now the masonry with the gas concrete blocks could start. Overall, my project for the new outdoor kitchen right by the pool had already been delayed by 6 months. Cov19, shortage of materials and craftsmen sent their regards. The weather also very often put a spoke in my wheel. But now the time had come and it could start.

My Napoleon P500 gas grill will be the centerpiece of my new backyard kitchen. The outdoor kitchen is still under construction, but I already have to think about installing the gas barbecue. In addition to the work surface of the Napoleon Prestige 500 – which should be at the same level as the rest of the worktop – the ventilation of the gas grill and the supply of gas and electricity must also be considered and planned. My aim is to no longer be dependent on the batteries in the grill in the future. Rather, the electrical functions such as the lighting and ignition of the Napoleon should be ensured…
