Build your own carport – safely stabilize slopes with gabions
Securing the slope with a gabion wall was the final task in our “Build your own carport” project. Our double carport was finally finished. The roof turned out to be tight, and I had applied the paint several times to ensure long-lasting quality and protection. Once I had installed the electrics, LED lighting, motion detectors and a surveillance camera, the interior of the carport was as good as complete. Now I turned my attention to the final slope stabilization behind and next to the carport. In addition to the solid, steel-reinforced formwork stone wall, I planned to erect a decorative gabion wall in the front viewing area to provide additional…

Optimally illuminate carport with LED light – install camera and motion detector
The carport was finally finished. The roof was tight and the protective coating was also applied several times. Now I could devote myself to the electrics. In addition to lighting that had to be activated by a motion detector but also had to be switchable for continuous operation, at least 2 sockets also had to be accommodated in the carport. Of course, I also need the right cables and connections to be able to connect the amplifier’s speakers in the basement. After all, the carport should also serve as a shelter for celebrations in bad weather. Finally, of course, one of my surveillance cameras should also be installed on the…

Build your own carport – build an Easycarport safely on a slope
I have finally fulfilled my dream of having my own carport. In this project, I decided to build a wooden double carport from EasyCarport myself. The entire process, from the preparation of the substrate to the final installation of the roof curb sheets, was a challenging but also very fulfilling task. In the following article, I provide a detailed insight into the individual steps and challenges of this construction project.

Build your own carport – calculate and adjust post lengths correctly
The kit for the carport was delivered and the weather was getting better every day. The construction of the carport was now within reach. In order for the construction to run smoothly, the work had to be well planned. As well as catering for the construction team, I had to make sure that I had the tools I needed in stock. I also had to check my preparatory work, especially the height of the post anchors, to avoid any nasty surprises when putting up the carport. In the following article, I write everything you need to know about the necessary tools and how to calculate the correct post lengths.

EasyCarport kit – delivery and accessories
Once the base and post anchors were in place, we just had to wait for the kit to be delivered. I put together and ordered the carport from the company “Easy Carport” online. I have already described how to prepare the building site for the carport and how to set the H-post anchors in concrete in the article Building a carport yourself – setting post anchors in concrete. When we placed the order, we had set a preferred date three months in the future. As the construction plans and post anchors were sent to us immediately, we had plenty of time to prepare. In this article, I describe how the…

Build your own carport – embedding post anchors in concrete
Within a few weeks, we had prepared the excavation pit for our future double carport. The retaining wall on the slope was also built with formwork stones and has already been backfilled. The earth now had to subside and the frost from the winter months had to disappear first. I have described the details for preparing the ground for the new carport in the article Building a carport yourself – preparing the building site, and you can find my entry on building the slope stabilization with formwork stones in the article Building a carport yourself – securing the slope with formwork stones. In the meantime, we were able to take…
