Illuminate carport with LED strip light – install camera and motion detector

The carport was finally finished. The roof was tight and the protective coating was also applied several times. Now I could devote myself to the electrics.

In addition to lighting which would have to be switched either by motion detector, should also accommodate at least 2 sockets in the carport. In order to be able to connect speakers in the future, I of course needed the appropriate cables for this as well.

Electrical and network for the carport

The domestic surveillance system should also be expanded at the carport – because another camera should be installed here. I decided to use a surveillance camera with PoE.

With this standard, power is supplied directly via the network cable. An additional power cable is therefore not necessary.

Through the empty pipes, which I had laid in the ground when building the carport, I then also pulled in the cables for electricity and network. The lighting in the carport is indirect via a LED strip light.

The strip light creates a uniform and indirect light under the carport. With a power consumption of only 5 watts, I don’t need to worry about running costs either.

It can be controlled either by the motion detector or by a toggle switch in the carport. Especially if you use the carport as a shelter for a party, it is very pleasant when the light is on continuously.

Otherwise, the LED strip light would constantly switch off and only be reactivated by the motion detector. I have both options to choose from.

I also installed a dead switch that shuts off all power. A separate double socket supplies power to the vacuum cleaner during car cleaning.

The power supply runs via its own fuse. In addition, I have interposed a separate on/off switch in the house.

The surveillance camera was also installed and provides first-class high-resolution live images.

Carport at night – LED lighting

The LED lighting makes a very good impression. The light is uniform and very bright – but it does not dazzle.
