MSpa whirlpool for the sauna in the test
The MSpa hot tub had proved to be an excellent addition to my small spa area in the basement, especially after long and tiring days at work.
I had created this area to relax and unwind after such days. Especially in winter, the combination of sauna and whirlpool was an excellent way to both relax and strengthen my immune system.
Until now, I had had to do without a refreshing dip as our garden pool was unusable in winter.
A whirlpool for the sauna – MSpa Alpine Delight
So what could be more obvious than installing a small whirlpool in our wellness oasis in the basement? Unfortunately, the available space was limited, we only had two meters at our disposal.
However, as most inflatable whirlpools are between 1.80 m and 2.20 m tall, I deliberately opted for a smaller model.
The MSpa Alpine Delight that I chose is square with external dimensions of 1.58 m x 1.58 m.
The interior measures 1.18 m x 1.18 m and therefore offers enough space for up to four adults. The capacity of the pool is 650 liters.
Although the whirlpool is marketed under the name “Alpine”, I found it on the Internet under the name “Tekapo”.
This model also has an integrated heater that can heat the water up to 40° C.
I also ordered a separate carpet pad. This consists of four mats measuring 80 x 80 cm, which can be put together like a puzzle to create a base area of 1.60 m x 1.60 m.
Thanks to the integrated inflation function, the pool was set up and installed in about an hour.
I let the water in with a garden hose that I had connected directly to the shower hose. This allowed me to let warm water directly into the pool, which saved a lot of heating time.

Whirlpool tub in the basement – What should I bear in mind?
In order to use the inflatable hot tub safely in the cool basement of our 100+ year old house, I had to give some thought to the potential advantages and disadvantages of using it.

Advantages
The main advantage of a hot tub in the basement is the ability to enjoy a relaxing bath regardless of the weather conditions and seasons. The warmth of the water and the massage effect of the jets help to reduce stress and relax muscles.
In addition, the combination of the whirlpool and the existing sauna significantly enhances the wellness experience and offers a soothing change.
Another advantage is the privacy offered by a hot tub in the basement. Compared to the garden or other outdoor areas, I enjoy undisturbed moments of peace and relaxation here.
Disadvantages
One major challenge is the high humidity that a hot tub can cause in a closed and poorly ventilated basement. This carries the risk of mold growth, which is particularly problematic in an old building.
It must also be borne in mind that the cool basement requires additional heating of the spa room to create a pleasant climate and make the most of the effect of the whirlpool.
Another disadvantage is the possible higher energy costs. The continuous heating and ventilation of the room, as well as the operation of the whirlpool itself, could significantly increase the monthly electricity bills.
Measures to reduce the disadvantages
To keep the humidity under control, I planned to use a dehumidifier and ventilate the room regularly. These measures help to control moisture levels and prevent mold growth.
To heat the room, I considered additional heating elements such as an infrared radiator and a ceramic fan heater in addition to the 9 kW sauna already installed to ensure efficient and comfortable temperature control.
Careful planning and consideration of these aspects was crucial to ensure that the installation of a hot tub in the basement of our historic house could be both beneficial and sustainable.

Performance data MSpa Alpine Delight
With a total output of 2100W, the pool proves to be quite powerful. The heater alone requires 1500W, while the massage jets require a further 600W.
The pool runs on a voltage of 220V and a frequency of 50Hz, which makes it fully compatible with the European electricity system.
The filter pump has a power consumption of 35W and delivers 1,325 liters per hour. The heater is approved for temperature ranges from 20°C to 40°C.
A special feature of this MSpa pool is its UV-C disinfection unit. According to the description, there is a UV-C lamp in the pump group that automatically disinfects the water.
However, I have still not been able to find a way of servicing or replacing this UV-C lamp. As these lamps have a limited life, I am convinced that access to this lamp should be quick and easy.
Whether this disinfection lamp actually exists or whether the description is incorrect, I am currently unable to judge.
The capacity of the pool for four people seems realistic to me after I saw the pool when it was set up. I was amazed at the generous amount of space available when I bathed, which was not apparent from the outside.
At first I was a little skeptical about the dimensions of 1.58m x 1.58m in the outdoor format, as only 1.18m x 1.18m remain in the indoor area.
108 massage jets ensure that the water bubbles vigorously and pleasantly. Of course, such powerful bubbling requires a considerable amount of water – we fill a total of 650 liters of water into the pool.
The heating capacity is specified as 2°C to 2.5°C per hour, which is quite ambitious.
The weight of the pool without water is 21 kg. I can still carry the package quite well on my own, although two people would certainly make more sense.
However, I doubt that I could easily reassemble the pool so that it would fit into the old packaging.
Advantages
The MSpa Alpine Delight impresses me with its powerful performance and efficient massage jets.
The UV-C disinfection unit promises automatic and simple cleaning of the water.
Disadvantages
The inability to maintain or replace the UV-C lamp raises questions. The skepticism regarding the actual heating capacity also remains.
Finally, reassembly after use is a challenge, especially when trying to return the pool to its original packaging.
