MOVA is a comparatively young brand in the smart home sector that has quickly established itself with high-performance cleaning appliances. The product line ranges from robotic vacuum cleaners and mopping robots to cordless vacuum cleaners. The “Ultra Complete” series in particular – which includes the MOVA V50 Ultra Complete and the new MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete – underlines MOVA’s goal: high-end technology and maximum automation. The company consistently relies on intelligent navigation, precise laser sensor technology and self-cleaning docking stations to significantly reduce maintenance costs.
My first contact with the brand’s appliances was with the Dreame A1 Pro robotic lawnmower. In my test report on this robotic lawnmower, I showed how advanced robotics and smart technologies work together – and there it became clear that there is a connection between the Dreame and MOVA brands. In the press, MOVA was presented as a sub-brand of Dreame – with its own R&D structure, but technical overlap in the motor and algorithm area.
In fact, MOVA was introduced as a new Dreame brand to appeal to a younger audience while still utilizing proven Dreame technologies. According to official announcements, MOVA is Dreame’s sub-brand, which operates autonomously in terms of its orientation, but is closely linked to Dreame in terms of technology.

Setup & commissioning
Setting up the Z60 Ultra Complete is straightforward. After downloading the MOVAhome app, the robot is placed in the charging station, switched on and added to the app using a QR code. This is followed by WLAN setup (2.4 GHz only), followed by hotspot mode by pressing the Clean and Dock buttons simultaneously for three seconds.
In my test, the app reliably guided me through every step. Water and cleaning agents were automatically detected, the tanks were filled and the return to the station was triggered after the first mapping. Even in this phase, the Z60 worked intelligently and reliably.

Navigation & mapping
The MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete uses a combination of DToF laser sensor technology, RGB camera and intelligent LED illumination for orientation. This hybrid navigation enables extremely precise and safe movement – even in changing light conditions or complex spatial structures.
The compact, retractable laser tower works with a 360° DToF scanner (Direct Time of Flight), which determines distances by measuring the time of flight of the laser beam. This technology is significantly more precise than conventional LDS systems and can accurately detect even fine structures such as chair legs or table edges. Thanks to its flat design, the robot can also navigate under sofas, sideboards or beds with low ground clearance without bumping into anything.
The RGB camera also captures objects at ground level. It works with a resolution that reliably detects even small obstacles such as cables, socks or toys. In combination with AI-supported obstacle detection and the LED light, the Z60 is able to provide stable orientation even in dark rooms. The light is not only used for detection, but also for shadow compensation – important for correctly interpreting dark carpets or black furniture edges, for example.
While driving, the Z60 Ultra Complete continuously analyzes sensor data from multiple sources:
- Gyroscope and acceleration sensors detect movements and tilt angles to ensure precise path guidance.
- Impact and proximity sensors detect physical contact and react with an immediate change of direction.
- Abyss sensors prevent falls on stairs or open levels.
- The AI-supported software continuously adjusts map points to stabilize navigation even in difficult lighting conditions.
In everyday life, this means that the Z60 works with foresight. On furniture with long table legs, it moves closely along without colliding, and on transparent surfaces such as glass walls or shower cubicles, it automatically reduces speed.
Obstacles are not only recognized in the app, but also marked with symbols – such as cables, socks or pet bowls. This information is stored in the map so that the robot can optimize future journeys.
The app displays the mapping in real time, including a detailed room layout. Rooms can be named manually, merged or defined as a restricted zone. With regular use, the Z60 improves its map independently: The AI analyzes each cleaning protocol and adapts the routes to new furniture or changed room layouts.
The test showed that navigation remained particularly stable when there was sufficient light reflection in the room. However, with very shiny floors or reflective surfaces, care should be taken to ensure that the laser tower is not dazzled by direct sunlight. In practice, however, the Z60 also worked reliably in twilight and artificial light – a clear advantage over purely laser-based systems.
Overall, MOVA has integrated a very sophisticated navigation system into the Z60 Ultra Roller Complete, which enables thorough and reliable mapping thanks to the combination of laser, camera and AI – even in complex living environments.

Wiping performance & cleaning in the test
In the practical test, the MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete impressed above all with its rotating mop roller, which works with constant pressure on the floor. The HydroForce system combines 80 °C hot water with automatic dosing of cleaning agents, which ensures thorough cleaning even with stubborn stains. Tiles, vinyl and laminate were wiped evenly, without visible streaks or uneven moisture.
At the beginning of the test, it was noticeable that the robot used a little too much water. This initially resulted in streaks on the floor. After I manually reduced the amount of water in the app, the result improved significantly – the wipe pattern was then even and streak-free.
During the test, it also became apparent that the Z60 leaves occasional drops of water on the floor when leaving the station. This is because the mop roller is still slightly damp immediately after self-cleaning. It is therefore advisable to have the room with the base station cleaned last – this way, any drips that may occur can be removed immediately during the last run.
We deliberately chose three different types of soiling for the endurance test: Milk, ketchup and cat litter. This combination covers typical everyday situations – from liquid to solid residues. We regularly have cat litter on the floor, as we have two cats who often carry small pieces of litter out with them when they leave the toilet. Milk and ketchup, on the other hand, are classic everyday stains that rarely occur, but experience has shown that they are difficult to remove when they dry.
The Z60 Ultra Roller Complete was able to handle all three scenarios with ease: Liquids such as milk and ketchup were completely soaked up and mopped, while cat litter was thoroughly removed without particles getting tangled in the roller or brush. The combination of strong suction power (28,000 Pa), rotating mopping roller and AutoShield™ carpet detection ensured a consistently clean result.
After each return to the station, the wiping roller and side brush are automatically cleaned with 80 °C hot water, then dried and UV-sterilized. This saves time, prevents odors and significantly reduces the amount of maintenance required. If the dirt was heavier, the Z60 automatically repeated the cleaning process with higher pressure and slightly more water – a sign of the intelligent control of the cleaning logic.
Overall, the Z60 Ultra Roller Complete demonstrated in the test that MOVA has developed one of the most effective mopping functions currently available on the market with this combination of temperature, contact pressure and rotating roller technology – with results that are also impressive in long-term use.
App functions & control
The MOVAhome app is the central control and management center for the MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete. It offers a clear structure, intuitive navigation and quick access to all important functions. The operating logic of the app is clearly structured so that even extensive cleaning tasks can be planned with just a few clicks.
Everyday use shows that four functional areas in particular are used regularly: Map management, cleaning control, swipe settings and dock options.
Map management & zone control
After the initial mapping, the app shows a precise floor plan map of the entire living space. This map can be edited manually – rooms can be merged, divided or named individually. You can also define exclusion zones or non-mopping areas to protect sensitive areas such as carpets or wooden floors.
Zone cleaning is a particularly useful feature. This allows specific areas to be cleaned, for example just the dining area after breakfast. These areas can be tapped directly in the map view and started immediately. The Z60’s AI also uses the maps created to optimize future journeys – obstacles or furniture are detected more and more precisely over time.
Cleaning control & schedules
In the “Cleaning” category, you can choose between different cleaning modes:
- Total cleaning – the robot cleans all rooms according to the saved floor plan.
- Room cleaning – individual rooms are specifically selected.
- Zone cleaning – only certain areas within a room are cleaned.
Schedules can also be created here. These can be defined daily, weekly or individually by time and room.
Particularly practical: the combination of suction power and water volume setting for every cleaning plan. If you want intensive cleaning at the weekend, for example, you can use a higher suction power (28,000 Pa) and maximum water volume, while a light pass is sufficient on weekdays.
Mop settings & carpet detection
The amount of water can be regulated in three stages under the mop settings: low, medium and high. As determined in the test, the medium level should be sufficient in most cases to achieve an even wipe pattern.
The integrated AutoShield™ function automatically raises the mop attachment as soon as the Z60 detects a carpet. This carpet detection works reliably and prevents carpets from becoming damp. You can also define in the app whether carpets should be completely omitted or only bypassed.
The extendable side brush can also be activated or deactivated separately. For narrow furniture arrangements, we recommend leaving them switched on to make it easier to reach corners and edges.
Dock options & maintenance
Another menu item is dedicated to the dock settings. Here you can specify whether the robot automatically returns to the base station after each cleaning process to empty the dust bag, clean the mopping roller or start drying. Hot air drying (63 °C) can be started immediately or with a time delay to save electricity.
Under “Maintenance”, the app provides information on the condition of the filters, brushes, wiper roller and roller. The display is based on previous operating hours and recommends when components should be cleaned or replaced. Firmware updates can also be carried out directly via the app without having to connect the robot manually.
Cleaning agents & floor adjustment
A useful detail is the option to deactivate the cleaning agent for sensitive floors using the slider. This prevents streaking on natural stone or oiled parquet. Conversely, the dosage can be increased for heavily soiled floors, which achieved a significantly better cleaning performance for stubborn stains in the test.
Evaluation of the MOVAhome app
In practice, the app works stably and responds almost without delay. Changes to the settings are transferred to the Z60 Ultra Roller Complete in real time. One particularly positive aspect is that MOVA is continuously expanding its range of functions – new options such as AI obstacle detection, pet mode and automatic self-cleaning settings have already been added via updates.
Overall, the MOVAhome app offers a sophisticated combination of intuitive operation and technical depth. It makes controlling the MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete not only convenient, but also adaptable to different living situations and floor types.
Maintenance, cleaning and spare parts
The MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete is designed to be virtually maintenance-free in everyday use. The base station takes care of the most important maintenance processes completely automatically: it empties the dust bag, cleans the roller with hot water at 80 °C and then starts the hot air drying process. This keeps the roller and mop roll permanently hygienically clean without you having to intervene.
Nevertheless, manual cleaning can be started at any time via the app if required. This function is particularly useful if the robot has been subjected to heavy use after an intensive cleaning cycle or if the roller is slightly soiled with fine dust. The process can be triggered directly from the app without the robot having to complete a full cleaning.
Regularly refilling the fresh water tank and emptying the dirty water tank are the only tasks that should be carried out manually. Refilling the detergent is also straightforward. MOVA uses a modular system with clearly labeled tanks, which prevents confusion.
The test showed that the automatic self-cleaning function works extremely reliably. The roller and brush remain clean without hair or dirt getting tangled. If dust builds up on the sensors, the robot recognizes this independently and reports a corresponding maintenance recommendation in the app.
The station is slightly audible while the mop is drying, but the noise remains discreet and not at all annoying. It is reminiscent of a gentle fan noise and is barely perceptible even in living rooms. After around two hours, drying is complete and the Z60 Ultra Roller Complete is ready for the next application.
Spare parts such as filters, mop rollers, brushes and dust bags are available in the MOVA online store. The components are available individually or as an accessory pack, making long-term operation of the device simple and cost-effective.

Practical experience & test conclusion
In the everyday test, the MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete showed how much potential there is in the combination of high suction power, intelligent navigation and automatic maintenance. The performance on different floor types was particularly impressive – whether laminate, tiles or short-pile carpet, everything was cleaned thoroughly.
The 28,000 Pa suction power was convincing when vacuuming, and the even pressure system of the mopping roller when mopping. Even large amounts of dirt were reliably removed without the robot getting stuck or hair getting tangled in the brushes.
What the Z60 Ultra Roller Complete did not manage, however, was the 9 cm high step to our bathroom. This height exceeds the maximum climbing capacity of the StepMaster system. The robot therefore had to be placed in the bath manually. What was interesting, however, was how it reacted afterwards: After moving, the Z60 automatically began to scan its surroundings to determine its position on the existing map.
This worked surprisingly well. Although the robot only knew the bathroom from the doorstep and the room was only partially present in the mapping due to its L-shape, the Z60 quickly found its way around. During the subsequent cleaning process, it independently added the missing areas and updated the map precisely. This showed that the map system of the Z60 is intelligent enough to orient itself using known spatial features and to expand the environment consistently, even when implemented manually.
So does the MOVA Z60 Ultra really deliver what it promises?
Yes – in the test, the Z60 was convincing in terms of both comfort and cleaning quality. In particular, the combination of automatic hot water cleaning, UV drying and intelligent control clearly sets it apart from many of its competitors.
It is the ideal choice for larger households, pet owners and living areas with mixed floor coverings. The only point of criticism: The base station requires a little more space than comparable devices such as the Dreame X50 Ultra or the Z50 Ultra, which should be taken into account in smaller rooms.
Despite this minor detail, the MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete remains an extremely powerful and well thought-out robot vacuum and mop that impresses in almost all disciplines.
Comparison with other devices
In a direct comparison between the MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete and the Dreame X50 Ultra, it is clear that MOVA focuses more on automation, self-cleaning and hygiene.
While the Dreame X50 Ultra relies on a vibration mopping system, the Z60 uses a rotating roller that actively loosens dirt and moistens the floor evenly at the same time. Supported by 80 °C hot water cleaning, the MOVA achieves more hygienic and thorough cleaning, especially for stubborn soiling.
The Z60 also improved on the MOVA V50 Ultra Complete in several respects. Obstacle detection has been significantly improved: the robot recognizes objects earlier, brakes more gently and avoids obstacles more precisely. The new navigation system is also more stable thanks to laser and camera recognition, which is particularly noticeable in confined spaces or in changing light conditions.
Another interesting comparison is between the Ultra Roller Complete and the Aqua10 Ultra Roller. MOVA has redesigned the extendable side brush and the laser tower to optimize edge cleaning. The extendable brush now also reaches hard-to-reach areas along walls and furniture edges, while the redesigned laser tower is flatter and enables better detection under low furniture.
Overall, the MOVA Z60 Ultra Roller Complete is a logical continuation of the development of previous models.
