Careful preparation ensures that the water remains clear and that the water quality is optimal right from the start.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bringing_the_pool_out_of_hibernation\"><\/span>Bringing the pool out of hibernation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>During the winter months, I drained the water to below the inlet nozzles to prevent frost damage to the pipes and technology. A complete water exchange was not necessary &#8211; only a few cubic meters of water were drained.<\/p>\n<p>To prevent rain or melt water from collecting on the winter cover, I used pool cushions in different sizes. These pushed the cover upwards so that the water could simply drain off. I also dismantled the pump and drained the entire pipe system to prevent damage from freezing water.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Before cleaning begins, the winter cover and pool cushions must be removed. The pipe system is then reconnected so that the filter system and the pump are fully operational again. Only when these basic steps have been completed can the water be treated and the pool prepared for the season.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have already documented a detailed description of winterizing the pool and the correct procedure for winterizing in a separate article. Fine dust, leaves and other impurities get under the tarpaulin through tiny openings.<\/p>\n<p>Especially after wintering, it is often the case that earthworms, frogs or even dead mice can be found in the water alongside plant debris. These got lost under the cover during the winter months and drowned.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Thorough cleaning is therefore essential to remove impurities, germs and bacteria from the pool. Organic residues such as leaves and dead animals in particular can pollute the water and lead to poor water values. They promote the growth of bacteria and algae and impair filter performance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Leaves, coarse dirt and dead animals must be removed as quickly as possible with the scraper. The longer they remain in the water, the faster they decompose and release nutrients into the water that promote algae growth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As soon as the coarse dirt has been removed, the pool brush is used. I use it to loosen deposits from the pool walls and the pool floor. Particularly stubborn limescale and dirt residues can be removed more easily with a special cleaner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The final step is the use of the pool robot, which removes fine dirt and algae residue from the pool liner. Only when the mechanical cleaning is complete is the water treated with pool chemicals. Chlorine and pH regulators then ensure the final purification and disinfection of the water.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Refilling_the_pool_%E2%80%93_the_correct_procedure\"><\/span>Refilling the pool &#8211; the correct procedure<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>As the pool was only drained to below the inlet nozzles in the fall, it does not need to be completely refilled. The missing water is supplemented with tap water. Depending on the hose diameter and water pressure, this process takes 2 to 4 hours.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Advantages_and_disadvantages_of_tap_water\"><\/span>Advantages and disadvantages of tap water<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Tap water is of consistent quality, contains only small amounts of metals and limescale and generally has a stable pH value. This facilitates subsequent water treatment and reduces the risk of deposits in the pool.<\/p>\n<p>One disadvantage is the cost, as larger volumes of water can incur additional charges depending on the tariff. Tap water may also contain small amounts of chlorine or other treatment substances that affect the water values. The pH value is therefore checked after filling and adjusted if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Filling_via_the_solar_heater\"><\/span>Filling via the solar heater<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The water is fed into the pool via the solar heating inlet. This flushes the solar collectors after the winter break to remove deposits or air from the system. At the same time, the water is preheated by solar energy, which helps the water temperature to rise.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Water_quality_and_filter_system\"><\/span>Water quality and filter system<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The water should be filled in slowly so as not to overload the sand filter system unnecessarily. If the water rises too quickly, it can swirl up dirt particles and put more strain on the filter glass. The water values are checked regularly during filling. If necessary, adjust with pH reducers or flocculants.<\/p>\n<p>After filling, the water is ready for further treatment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"75\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Optimally_adjusting_the_pool_water_%E2%80%93_why_further_measures_are_necessary\"><\/span>Optimally adjusting the pool water &#8211; why further measures are necessary<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"77\" data-end=\"512\">Although the water is visually clean after cleaning, this alone is not enough to guarantee a permanently high water quality. Residues of organic substances, fine dirt particles and microorganisms may still be present in the water. Without targeted water care, bacteria, algae and cloudiness would build up over time, impairing bathing enjoyment and putting a strain on the filter system.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"514\" data-end=\"798\">Further applications and water additives are therefore required to ensure the water quality in the long term. These not only ensure optimum disinfection and pH stability, but also prevent the growth of algae and the formation of limescale deposits.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"800\" data-end=\"1030\">Regular application of these products is not only necessary after wintering, but throughout the entire bathing season.
